Why should you assign your linguistic projects to me?
Translator – and also economist, researcher
Translation had been a part of my life long before I launched my own translation business in 2012. I’ve been in love with English for quite a while now. There have naturally been a whole lot of other things I also found interesting (many of us realize that life somehow resembles a haphazardly winding road, right?), so I’ve gained diverse experience that would support my translation work:
Scholarly approach
As someone with a PhD in Economics, I do my research even during translation: I thoroughly dig myself into the given topic, with due enthusiasm. I am a life long learner. The last time I learned something new, it was… see below.
Extra mile
As a former volunteer, I know how valuable it is to go the extra mile. Moreover, as part of the social responsibility of my business, I am willing to support valuable causes with pro bono translations… see below.
Conscious communication
As a trained counsellor, I communicate readily and with ease: getting and keeping in touch and discussing the project appropriately are high priority.
Flexibility
As a mother, I know how important flexibility is: it's second nature. Imagine the benefits of this in a translation project.

Why human translation?
Today, there is more than one way leading to the Hungarian version of an English text, and some of these ways might totally lack human contribution. But why would you choose that? If you consider…
- environmental consciousness,
- information security,
- human connection & coordination,
- and feedback on the source text
…to be important, do reach out to me with your translatables. I’ll be at your service.
AI disclaimer
100% human translation
no text is fed to AI systems
I do NOT use machine translation and artificial intelligence in my translation process. I don’t upload or feed my clients’ texts into any model or AI-platform. I deliver 100% human translation. In case the clients themselves prepare a pre-translation via their own model, software, or bot, I’m happy to edit that.
As a professional Business & Finance translator, I firmly believe that the world would be a better place if we understood each other better.
How working with me looks like
01
You send me the translatables
You send me the text you would like me to translate for you, so I can have a look at it, and prepare my quote. In most cases, sending the translatables via email or Messenger (as an image) is enough, I don’t need to receive the original document.
02
I give you a quote
Should I have any questions, I raise these, and when the task is absolutely clear, I prepare my price quote. My quote is usually based on the source language word count (checked in Word or a suitable CAT tool), but for school certificates, ID documents, or when it is hard to count words, I might set a flat rate.
03
Translation and checking
After you have accepted my price quote, I translate the text, and run the necessary checks (spell-check, and other checks used to ensure consistency and accuracy), then I do the final read-through, check the data and the format. If needed, I add a translator’s declaration.
04
Delivery
Not later than the agreed deadline, I send you the completed translation via email or through a channel we discussed. If my original, hand-written signature is required on the translator’s declaration, I deliver the printed text manually, or send it to you by post. The invoice is attached to the final document.
Reviews
As a PM, Réka is THE translator for me. She makes my work easier on every project, and it’s a pleasure to work with her. Her communication is efficient and fast. She often solves arising difficulties independently, and when she does need assistance, she asks thoughtful and useful questions that help move the problem toward a solution.
from LinkedIn
I have never ceased to marvel at her proficiency, intelligence and kindness. It is rare to meet someone you can consider an example both personally and professionally, but she excels in both areas.
from LinkedIn
Always amazes me with her knowledge and her approach to issues and life in general.

I’ll definitely contact you again if there will be a new translation task. Our cooperation was so smooth. Thanks for your proactivity with that spreadsheet, and everything 🙂

Social responsibility
Pro bono translation for good causes
As part of my commitment to being socially responsible, I’m happy to offer gratis translation to support various initiatives related to topics including but not limited to pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, baby wearing, or organic agriculture, environment protection, sustainable buildings. I’m a member of the pro bono team at the Hungarian freelance translators’ association “SZOFT”.
How much does it cost?
Price is based on text quantity. When translation goes from English to Hungarian, the length of the English text is calculated, and when it’s from Hungarian to English, the length of the Hungarian text counts. Translators often work with the number of the words, I do that too, however, some of us invoice based on character count. Wordcount is something Word can tell you, but CAT tools (computer-aided translation tools) like Trados and memoQ can even tell you the number of repetitions. My price quote is prepared with the wordcount, the type of the text, and the volume of repetitions in mind, and influenced also by the urgency of your project. I usually use a per word rate of appr. 0.4-0.6 EUR, but this can vary.
When wordcount is hard to calculate for a school report or a certificate of good conduct / police report, I will give you a flat rate in my quote.
How long does it take to translate my documents?
The translation of a school report usually doesn’t take more thank 2-3 working days, but I always suggest a delivery deadline based on the volume of the translatable and my availability. In case you have a really urgent project, make sure to let me know, so that we can discuss, how quickly I can deliver.
In what format can I send the translatables?
You can send your official documents as a photo from your phone, but I can also accept Word documents, pdf files, and Excel worksheets. When it’s a pdf, I prefer searchable pdf files, these enable more accurate analysis and translation than an image pdf.
In case you have xliff files suitable for CAT tools (computer-aided translation tools like Trados and memoQ, Phrase and Smartling), or even a translation memory ™ and termbase (tb), feel free to send me these. I have my own Trados and memoQ licences, so I can work with them smoothly.
Do you do official or sworn translation?
In Hungary, only one entity is authorized to deliver sworn translation of foreign language official documents: OFFI (https://www.offi.hu/en). However, if you need to submit a Hungarian document outside of Hungary, it usually won’t require a translation verified by OFFI, a translator’s declaration might suffice. I suggest you to ask the organization requiring you to submit this document, and explore what exactly they expect. If they tell you that a translator’s declaration or the signature of the translator will do, I’m happy to provide you with the English translation.
Can I use your translation when I apply for jobs or submit university application abroad?
I have translated school reports and recommendations for several people planning to work or study abroad. For example, I translated year-end school reports or maturity / school leaving exam certificates for students heading to Denmark or the Netherlands, and also the tax returns of parents to be submitted as part of the dormitory application. I always welcome these tasks: I consider these to be special opportunities to support someone with my work in living their dream life.
How do you handle confidential documents?
I process personal data according to my Privacy Notice. Details of the discussions with my clients or the content of the documents received won’t be disclosed in any way (oral or written form). I don’t upload anything in any machine translation or AI platform. I work in my own office, no one will see the information displayed on my screen. I’m well aware of the confidential nature of my work, and I value my clients’ trust in me.
Do you use AI?
I do realize how intensely the language industry changes technology-wise, and I do trainings about AI, still, as for now, I just can’t stand the conflict between AI and my values concerning environment protection and human creativity. Therefore, I don’t use it in my work processes. I also have to tell you that AI would take over that part of the translation work which I love the most.
So no, I don’t use artificial intelligence.
Tell me how I can help with your translation or copyediting needs.
